Mountains Youth Services Team (MYST) is a non denominational youth service that utilises strength based practice and harm minimisation frameworks when working with young people.
Core MYST Programs

Outdoor Explore
Outdoor activities such as abseiling, mountain biking, canoeing, indoor and outdoor rock-climbing, canyoning and much more! Themed topics are raised throughout the day such as critical thinking, anger management, challenging negative thoughts, effective communication, drug and alcohol myth busters.
Duration: 1 day a week for 8 weeks
Participant number: 8
Program Requirements: Dedication to the program, and the ability to listen to the workers. This is highly important as many of the activities can be dangerous and need strict adherence to the safety measures put in place by workers.

Stressless
A program aimed at year 11 and 12 female students who need additional support in dealing with stress that is occurring both in and out of school. The program aims to enhance resilience and put in healthy strategies to cope with stress.
Duration: 1 period a week for 6 weeks

Program requirements: A quiet space

Steps
The Steps program aims to enhance resilience by increasing engagement with education, community and self with young women.
Duration: 1 period a week for 8 weeks

Step Up
The Step Up program is a continuation of the Steps program and builds upon content delivered in Steps including conflict resolution, friendships, healthy relationships and personal development.

Other Programs
- RAGE (Renavigating Anger and Guilty Emotions) – RAGE is an award winning six-week anger management course for adolescents aged between 11 and 17. RAGE is a strength based solution focused program that is hands on, practical and also fun for kids.
- ROCK & WATER – The program is an excellent tool to support young people in finding their grounding, learning how to centre oneself and learning how to self manage in social settings. Topics covered in the program include: intuition, body language, mental strength, empathetic feeling, positive feeling, positive thinking and positive visualising.
- LOVE BiTES – The program is a Respectful Relationships Education Program for young people aged 15-17 years. LOVE BiTES aims to provide young people with a safe environment to examine, discuss and explore respectful relationships.

Workshops
Our workshops work within a Harm Minimisation Framework and are designed to deal with sometimes difficult subjects using current information and experienced facilitators who have a strong youth work background. They are customisable according to age, however, parent permission is strongly encouraged.
- MENTAL HEALTH FIRST AID FOR YOUNG PEOPLE – A workshop designed to provide young people with the tools to recognise when peers may be experiencing symptoms of a mental illness, when to break the silence, who to talk to and self care.
- LETS TALK ABOUT SEX… – A frank workshop designed to create an open Q&A about sexual health, sexual violence, pornography and the ins and outs of sex. A parent workshop is also offered. #lgbtqiplussafespace
- PARTIES AND PILLS – This workshop explores statistics and information on drug and alcohol use, the impact on the brain, busts open myths about drug use, where to seek further information and help and how to take care of yourself and mates when at parties.
- SOCIALS – Online communication, safety, copyright, selfies, sexting, the law. It’s all in this workshop and explored with students using their phones.
Enneagram Workshops
The Enneagram Workshops – The Enneagram is a popular method of self-understanding that is based on Nine Distinctive Personality Types. A better understanding of your own personality type, & those in your family or those you interact with, will enable you to communicate better with others.
