CALD Programs
Culturally and linguistically diverse (CALD) young people within the Blue Mountains community are at an increased risk of developing mental challenges due to prevailing high levels of mental health-related stigma and racism within their communities.
MYST has developed a range of programs and services to support these vulnerable young people including:
School based programs: supporting CALD students to better believe in themselves, through programs that asking what is Identity & Intersectionality, what is culture & diversity, what is racism.
MYST CALD programs provide a safe and welcoming environment for young people to celebrate their cultural heritage and promote cultural diversity. We help them feel a sense of belonging and acceptance, which enhances their overall well-being.
Our CALD programs provide opportunities for young people to develop friendships and networks with individuals from similar cultural backgrounds. This can create a supportive community and foster a sense of solidarity, reducing feelings of isolation and loneliness.
Through this program, we facilitate intercultural exchanges, where young people can learn about and appreciate different cultures. This fosters tolerance, empathy, and understanding, contributing to multicultural harmony and social cohesion.
We provide mental health resources and support services to address the specific needs of young people from diverse backgrounds. This may include counselling, support groups, and culturally appropriate mental health programs, helping to promote positive mental well-being.
